Recycling of Chemicals |

Developer / Fixing Bath / Bleachbath Treatment Unit Environmental considerations and increased costs of chemicals have made the UTEC recycling process for black and white and color developers and fixer increasingly attractive and important. Recycling of developer and fixer overflow offers the user considerable savings in cost of chemicals while simulthaneously meeting the requirements for liquid waste disposal. The unit can process between 400 and 800 liters of color developer/fixer in one recycling process. One cycle lasts approx. th ree hours. It can be used in a wide variety of developing processes in cinematography as well as photofinishing. All units will be equipped with a touch-panel. All working steps will be shown on a graphical coloured display. Several languages are available.
Principles of operation Application The unit is conceptually clearly designed and simple to operate. It provides for the exchange of halide ions, the absorbtion of oxidation products and organic impurities and the circulation of developer compounds required for proper processing. It does so in one step. The only requirement is one resin ion exchange column. During the rinsing and regenerating steps, following immediately after recycling, an electronic control system automatically converts the resin back to ist original state and readies it for a new recycle process. The materials used in rinsing and regenerating are environmentally safe and very cost effective. Operating costs are thus minimized. No additional personnel is required. Using a chemical for the processing treatment, the collected recycled purified developer overflow is treated to give a regenerated solution. This chemical should be used as guideline for all further regeneration solutions of recycled developer bath overflows. Since this is a supplementary regeneration soluti on of the complete regenerated material-the circulated substances are reusable-70-80% of the chemicals can be saved. Repeated analyses of the regenerated developer are unnecessary since, beginning with the first cycle, a chemical conformity occurs. The unit is designed as space saving block module. It is independent of particular machine makes and univerally usable. The following units are available: Batch size: 400 liters using one resin ion exchange column. Duration of the recycle process including reg eneration is approximately 3 hours. By treatment of only one developer process, unit is suitable for all black and white and color developer.
